ART + FAITH CONFERENCE FAQ

What is The Commons Bellingham?

The Commons is a new ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Bellingham that seeks to provide a welcoming community space that nurtures creative discovery and artistic expression in all its forms. We believe in the transformational power of the arts to point us to the Divine, and we respect the diverse spiritual paths that lead people to faith.

We host art shows, workshops and community events. Learn more or keep up with us at: https://www.fpcbellingham.org/the-commons

What if I'm not an artist?

This conference is still for you! We believe that everyone is an artist. If you are interested in the intersection of art and faith, this conference is for you.

What's included in the price of the conference?

All talks, concerts, workshops and presentations are included. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be available throughout the weekend, along with breakfast bites on Saturday morning. Saturday dinner will be available at FPC by donation.

What if I can't come to all the events?

We have a drop-in rate of $20 per person per session, payable online or at the door. For example, if you would like to join us for one concert and one talk, you would pay for two sessions, $40.

Can I bring my kids?

This conference is geared toward adults, but if your child (12-18) has a special interest in the arts we welcome them to come for a reduced rate.

Where can I eat?

We’re located downtown, within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants and stores. Check out favorites such as Naan and Brew, Otherside Bagel Co., Cafe Rumba, Old World Deli, Leaf & Ladle and the Community Food Co-Op.

An optional Saturday dinner will be served at FPC and is available by donation.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring an open mind and your creativity!

Optional: A musical instrument for the Saturday night music jam, a water bottle, notebook and pen.

What does accessibility look like at FPC and The Commons?

There is handicapped parking available in the front of the church on N. Garden (use ramp to access front doors), and downstairs/at The Commons off of our alley (use elevator to access the sanctuary). Headsets that amplify the audio of the upstairs sessions are available to borrow in the foyer - just ask a volunteer!

Where can I park?

Our dedicated parking lot is located on the corner of N. Garden and E. Laurel Streets (Enter on E. Laurel). We have a limited number of parking spots available behind The Commons building in our alley for those with disability or limited mobility.

Street parking is also available near the church, please note whether your spot is free or paid city parking.

Will the conference be livestreamed?

We are not offering a livestream option for this event.
